5-Year-Old Sings 'I'm Sexy And I Know It' At Nightclub

PROVIDENCE, RI - DECEMBER 29: Isabella Barre...Image by Getty Images via @daylifeWhen does a baby beauty pageant go too far?

Is it when a toddler or preschool aged little girl is smothered in make-up and wearing a skimpy outfit?

Or is it all just in good fun, prepping the next generation of super models and fashionistas?

Then again, can we at least draw a line at dressing your child up like a prostitute?

What is your opinion of Toddlers & Tiaras? Is it offensive or adorable?

I'm all for dressing up children fashionably.  Children's clothing lines such as Gwen Stefani's Harajuku Mini for kids and Jeffrey Sebelia's La Miniatura clothing line for boys wouldn't have achieved overnight success if people didn't care about kiddie fashion.

I often ooh and ah over the adorable little outfits for little kids whenever I shop for myself as well.  And I do love seeing little girls all dolled up with their adorable curls, cutie little shoes and dresses and the bows in their hair...  It's cute!

But is a baby beauty pageant cute?  Or is it just...sad?  Scary?  Paedophile attracting?  ....particularly when a child is dressed up like Julia Roberts working the corner in "Pretty Woman"...

Like...Who invented the bra?

English: Good Sense Corset Waists. Note: Those...Image via WikipediaWhat did women do before bras? They wore corsets...tight, restrictive, uncomfortable corsets!  And, they wore them every single day.

In 1913, though, a woman by the name of Caresse Crosby decided enough was enough and tyed to handkerchiefs together with some ribbon, making the first bra.

The new design became widely accepted, giving us the modern day bra with various styles, comfort levels, uses, and colors.

Thank you, Caresse Crosby, for your inspiration and invention.  I'm grateful to not be stuck in a corset right this moment.

Celebrity Style Deconstructed – Mila Kunis

Mila KunisMila Kunis (Image via RottenTomatoes.com)Source: Celebrity Style Deconstructed – Mila Kunis

Mila Kunis is, for lack of a better word, GORGEOUS!

Can you really "get her look" or even hope to? I think she could wear anything and do her hair in any way and still look fabulous.

It's her face...her eyes and her smile that make her so beautiful. You can't duplicate that without a very expensive plastic surgeon.

And besides, you want to look like you and be your own beauty.

I just appreciate the glory that is her pretty face.

But sure, if you select the link above, you can totally find out how to get her look for less on the Budget Fashionista blog.

I do love those shoes... --->

Mila Kunis - I loved her in "That 70s Show" and "Friends with Benefits" was good too, though predictable.

I honestly didn't like the fashion trends she wore during "That 70s Show".  They didn't really work for her at all.  I think the bell bottoms made her butt too big, and the shorter tops made her look shorter and child-like, though I think that was partly the point.

In "Friends with Benefits," however, she looked amazing in the more modern fashions.  I think she was simply meant to be a modern fashion diva.

You know what, I'd love to see Mila Kunis wearing glasses.  I'd bet she could rock those.  Anyone know where I can find a pictures with her wearing reading glasses.  She'd make a great sexy chic classy librarian in a film.

"Fourrures André Brunswick". ‘Le grand couturier de la fourrure’

Fourrures André Brunswick
I want this in a poster print.  It's public domain, so I could probably just get it made with no issues.  Isn't she gorgeous?!

It's called:  Reclamekaart. "Fourrures André Brunswick". ‘Le grand couturier de la fourrure’ and it's dated circa 1930.

Ah...I'm in love with this image.  I want it hanging in my living room to enjoy all the time.  I love to surround myself with beautiful things, and this is one of those beautiful things that can both lift my spirits and inspire me.

For the Love of Fashion & History - My 2 nutty obsessions rolled into one!

Clothing in the ancient worldImage via Wikipedia
Clothing in the Ancient World
One thing you may see on my blog that you won't see on other fashion blogs is a deep focus on fashion through history.  I'm obsessed with the styles and trends of the past, and I'm not alone in this either.

Many modern fashion trends are inspired by fashion trends of the past with a modernized twist.  For example, you may have noticed during the past few years that even the 80s managed to make a comeback, much to my dismay.  Honestly, I love the big sweaters as much as the next gal, but can you skip the cheap looking belts that remind me of what I wore when I was in grade school?  Thanks.

I am honestly in love with fashion from the 20s, 30s and 40s.  Women during those decades were just glamorous.  Even during the Great Depression, we saw some amazing fashion trends.  The women were classic beauties, and I'm happy to say that this era in fashion is making a comeback.  I can barely contain my excitement!

She's gorgeous, right?! <3
The hairstyles also appeal to me.  I want to chop my hair and go all flapper.  If I had the figure for one of those flapper dresses, I would totally go for it.  LOL

Of course, the 20s, 30s and 40s aren't the only appeal to me fashion-wise.  Whenever I watch a film about a time long past, I obsess over the clothing worn by the men and the women and how they presented themselves compared to modern times.  I wonder how long it took them to dress themselves in the morning and how comfortable or uncomfortable they might be in their clothes.

Every time I watch "Little Women" I ask myself how many of these women felt ill wearing all that fabric while being suffocated by "restrictive corsets".

Whenever I watch a film about the Elizabethan Era, I wonder if Queen Elizabeth I had severe neck and shoulder pain from all the weight from her clothing and headdresses alone.

How do you walk in a big puffy dress with all those layers of fabric and not manage to twist your ankle in your heals?  How do you walk up and down those windy staircases that I had trouble walking through when I visited these historical castles in Europe?  I was wearing comfortable tennis shoes and blue jeans, but you were wearing a huge gown and heals.  How did women not fall and break their bones on a regular basis?

These are the things I think about as a fashion & history junkie.  I love to look back at times past and fashion history, so don't be surprised if I blog about it often.  It's a passion of mine.

Fall 2011's Most Wearable Trends Fashion: glamour.com

English: Randi Rahm in finale of her Fall 2011...                                           Image via WikipediaI love the fall, and I'm sad that it's gone. In fact, it seems that winter is already over and spring is arriving. Anyone else notice the odd weather around the country?

Now that it's 2012, I decided to go back and look at what was fashionable and trendy in 2011, starting with the fall, most recent, and going back to last spring.

But it's not just the fall fashion trends from 2011 I'm interested in. While I love shock and awe fashion just as much as the next gal, what I love even more are the wearable fashion trends...you know, the stuff you can actually buy and wear in public without people asking you for your autograph because they think you're Lady Gaga.

I honestly can't choose between the rust colored coats and the maxi-skirts with giant cozy sweaters. The jade green dresses are kinda doing it for me too.

*sigh* Decisions...decisions...

For the Love of Fashion!

Dress designed by Ule Herzner for Project RunwayImage via WikipediaWhat is fashion?

Fashion is what we do to express ourselves to those we don't have the pleasure of talking to.  It tells people, when we walk into a room, who we are, what our values are, and how seriously we take ourselves.

This is why I love fashion...that, and, the colors, textures, styles, and how it makes me feel.

I'm going to use this lovely blog to express my opinions about fashion, information on the latest trends, my favorite fashion television shows (like Project Runway!), hot deals I find on great designer goodies, and just photos of beautiful models wearing beautiful clothes...because sometimes, I just like to look at pretty clothes.  It makes me happy.
